1 Thessalonians closes with some of the shortest verses in the Bible. This sermon contends that they're not a new version of the 10 Commandments and demosntrates how they stitch together to guide our spiritual growth today.

Chapters 4 and 5 of First Thessalonians have often been used as the basis for teaching "the rapture". This sermon looks at those passages in their textual and historical context while coming to a different understanding. Nonetheless, Christians have great hope for life as we anticipate the return of Christ.

Is God always angry? What makes God angry? And why is he so often portrayed as angry and impatient?

As Paul writes to new church he recently left he encourages them. He also defends himself against (apparant) claims that he's a charlatan. As part of his defence he describes himself as caring for the church like "a nursing mother". What can we learn about church leadership from this unusual descriptor? 1 Thessalonians 2

It's all well and good for Yahweh to despcribe himself as gracious and compassionate, but how does play out? This sermon looks at Psalm 68 and God's heart for the widows, orphans, foreigners and lonely. God's directs his goodness to those who need it most.

What is God like? We all have our own ways of answering this question and describing God. Even the Bible describes God in different ways in different places. We could make a long list. So when God takes the time to describe himself, we should listen. This sermon discusses Exodus 34:5-6.
