Despite the sermon's title, the parable of "The Prodigal Son" is mostly about the father. How does God view sinners? How does God receive sinners? How does God's attitude differ from ours?

This short parable is found in Luke 15. The sermon asks the question, "How was the coin lost?" Healthy churches need to acknowledge that despite our best intentions and efforts sometimes we cause hurt and push people away from God.

This sermon begins a short series on the parables of Luke 15. In this parable Jesus, the Good Shepherd, returns to the pasture to find a lost sheep. We consider our responsibility to care for those who struggle with their faith.
